Thanks Luca! I always enjoy your comments. It will be wonderful when we are diving together in August and the conversation can flow. I'm quite sure there will be no stopping us! Much love ot you and Mary Ann.

You are right Jill, everyone is talking about this accident in the Maldives! My colleagues as work, since they know I am a diver all want to talk to me about it! Want to know if something like that could happen to me and my first instinct was to say “I don’t do that kind of diving” but then I realized that I first don’t know what happened and second, it’s a way do explain what I do know! About the safety protocols we have in place, about planning what we are supposed to do and stick to it and about equipment necessary for safely diving in different environments and most importantly, training. Having the humility to say not for me or not today and having someone knowledgeable when in a new environment, go a long way in keeping someone safe. There are still so many unknowns but while we learn more about it, I took this time to reassess myself, my mindset when I dive and my own discipline before and during a dive!

I rewatched Under Thin Ice last night on our brand new tv(our last one was about 15 years old) and wow the cinematography was stunning! You guys did such an amazing job telling the story and I am so grateful for incredible people who are willing and passionate about showing us places on earth I will probably never see. I would have loved to be surrounded by belugas and narwals, them and their singing is just enchanting, but I would have had to be sedated to get me to that ice edge, the trip, specify the return was wild! The polar bear, nope, hard pass, I would have stayed put in that boat!

The urgency of the changing planet and the drastic changes we need to make quickly, is so clear and with each passing year when we are failing to meet the challenge my heart breaks for the future!

This is such a brilliant post - I've had non diving friends asking about this too. Thank you for sharing suggestions of how to talk about it with compassion
