Maybe they count autonomous lawnmowers to fall asleep, uh, get ready to recharge? (Sorry, that one is bad, but I couldn't resist)

A robot never will fully replace a human in exploration, humans are way too curious for that. Take space exploration as an example: Mars is way easier to reach for a robot than for a human being, but still manned missions are planned. Same goes for underwater. "Seeing with one's own eyes" still beats any remote-controlled drone. And as you have rightfully said, humans are incredible dextrous and amazing problem solvers. That also counts for something.
